A Saskatchewan writer has a hard road; no published writer lives down the street or even in your community. I have been a writer my whole life and started writing poetry at age 11. My imagination gave my the opportunity to keep children entertained, a companion on an everyday basis, while giving me a chance at embellishing stories or excuses to keep me out of trouble. The latter rarely worked./p>
I am child number 5 in a family of seven kids and I always had someone to talk to, whisper secrets too and someone to stand with me explaining to one or both parents why we did what we were told not to. Living many years in small towns gave me the freedom not granted in today’s world. We were expected to rise early, eat breakfast, and once our chores were over, we had the world outside as our teacher.
I continue to write and entertain and hope the written word will continue to open doors for the next generation of children.
